Meet the Artist! 5 East Art Gallery’s featured artist is Photographic Fine Artist John McSweeney. John has lived In Hunterdon County, NJ for the last 8 years. He is an avid outdoorsman who has a particular affection for the beach and the sea. John has spent most of his life taking pictures of nature, animals and seascapes. He exhibits throughout New Jersey and has won awards at the Avalon Art Show . John has a great fascination for the beauty in simplicity. It is about the light and the angle. He attempts to share what he sees in his “mind’s eye” with the viewer. John feels that if he can capture the visual emotion of a moment and portray it in a picture so others can also enjoy it, he has succeeded.

Please join M Galleries for the opening reception of Artist Lauryn Ahearn. Lauryn was born in 1983 in North Carolina, but she has spent her life growing up in New Jersey where she currently resides. She graduated with a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in 2005. As an emerging artist, she has exhibited in galleries in New York City and New Jersey, gaining momentum and name recognition among local art communities.

Lauryn dwells “where a painter is a poet.” She creates art as an extension of herself in an attempt to obliterate anything outside of the creative moment and connect with others through shared recognition in her work. Her suburban daytime identity inspires underlying themes in her art that examine the challenges of balancing a creative lifestyle with motherhood, work, and familial responsibilities.
