Fall Farm Fun

Autumn has arrived! The fruit ripens, it’s time to harvest, the leaves will be displaying their blazing colors soon. It’s a perfect time for wandering in Warren County, to pick apples and enjoy freshly pressed cider, to take on the challenge of a corn maze or traipse among acres of sunflowers, or just to enjoy nature's most glorious days of the year. Here are some ideas for you and your family to help you plan your fall fun at our farms.

Established in 2018, Cabbage Throw Farm grows on Comeback Farm & Kash Valley Farm - both located in Asbury - and is a small scale certified organic farm & community supported agriculture program. They offer fresh, organic, seasonal produce alongside local grocery items including bread, coffee, hot sauce, flowers and more. Cotton Cattle Company offers grass fed beef, chicken and pork on Fridays. The Farm Market is currently open on Fridays from 3-6pm and Saturdays from 10am-2pm.

Pack a picnic basket, bring a blanket or sit in the gazebo and enjoy the peace and tranquility among hundreds of English, French and Spanish lavenders. The shop offers a variety of natural, handmade lavender products as well as honey from their hives. The farm is the idyllic setting for artists and photographers to capture the beauty of the lavender field and its beautiful surroundings. Throughout the season, they offer yoga classes, dinners, paint classes and more. Open Fri.-Sun. with a $5/person admission fee (cash only). Check ahead of time to make sure the farm is not closed for a private function.

The pick-your-own farm is open seven days a week through October and features apples, peaches, tomatoes, peppers, beans, eggplants, grapes, corn, candy onions and garlic. PYO customers can enjoy a wagon ride to the fields. Pack a picnic and relax in their beautiful picnic area. Meanwhile, the Farm Stand and Garden Center at 224 Route 94, Blairstown, has vegetables and fruit, as well as seasonal greenhouses full of perennials, annuals, fruit and vegetable plants for every gardening need, plus homemade baked goods, soups, hummus, cider donuts, ice cream, honey, pastas, jams, jellies, local grass fed beef, poultry and dairy products.

Pick your own or have them pick it for you, with fresh goods from the farm store year-round, plus eggs, cheeses, jellies and maple syrup, as well as Vermont cheese, preserves, relishes, salad dressings and more.
