CSC's production of HAIR celebrates the Sixties counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded and fringed glory, to an infectiously energetic rock beat with songs like “Aquarius,” “Good Morning, Starshine,” “Hair,” “I Got Life,” and “Let The Sun Shine.” Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, HAIR remains relevant as ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world. The show opens this weekend and continues August 2-5.

Based on the Charles Dickens novel, 9-year-old orphan Oliver Twist (Dominick Lusardi) falls in with a group of street-urchin pickpockets led by the Artful Dodger and masterminded by the criminal Fagin. When Oliver’s intended mark, Mr. Brownlow, takes pity on the lad and offers him a home, Fagin’s henchman Bill Sikes plots to kidnap the boy to keep him from talking.
