Join the Ridge and Valley Conservancy for a moonlight paddle under the Sturgeon Moon on the placid waters of White Lake. The park will remain open during these hours for other park activities. This is a FREE event and a limited number of kayaks will be available on a first-come first-served basis. Signing up for the event will not guarantee the availability of a kayak.
The Full Moon in August is called Sturgeon Moon because of the great number of this huge freshwater fish that could once be found in lakes and rivers in North America. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, sturgeon are more easily caught in August and early September.
