Johnsonburg is a year round camp and retreat center offering space for groups to gather and individuals to recreate and renew. High and low ropes courses, teambuilding challenges, zipline, climbing wall, boating and kayaking on the lake, swimming pool, trails and archery all provide numerous recreational opportunities. In addition, we serve made- from-scratch food in the beautiful dining hall, perfect for gatherings of all kinds. 8 weeks of summer programming allow children and youth to experience all of this and more, in a fun outdoor setting.
For most of its 27 miles, the trail passes through rural landscapes, northern deciduous forests and wetlands, and small towns in Warren and Sussex Counties. The trail cuts under the majestic Hainseburg viaduct, once part of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. The trail has a wide, firm cinder base suitable for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing.

Nestled just outside of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a natural wolf preserve featuring four packs of wolves, foxes and bobcats. Schedule a guided tour and learn about this organization's beginnings and the animals that call this preserve home. Book online to reserve your spot. You won't want to miss this one-of-a-kind expereince.
This preserve is immediately south of the Paulinskill, and hosts various deciduous and evergreen species, dominated on the north side by hemlocks. Large tulip poplars, successional black birch, and mature oak, hickory and maple trees are present. A perennial stream flows within a deep ravine on the eastern end of the property. The western edge of the preserve is bounded by a steep escarpment that exposes the carbonate bedrock.
A premiere site along the Morris Canal Greenway, Lock Street Park is home to the historic Inclined Plane 10 West.

The Lopatcong Creek Initiative is dedicated to promoting river friendly living, working, and farming throughout our 22 square mile watershed. We are committed to raising awareness about the critical connection between the health of our water and the health of our communities and to educating our neighbors about how simple choices can lessen our environmental impact, reduce pollution, and conserve the water resources we depend on. We provide volunteer opportunities throughout the year to engage the community in projects and cleanups in addition to workshops and training. We also provide watershed presentations to schools and community groups to teach the next generation about how pollution travels through our watershed and into our stream. We are eager to help connect landowners, farmers, and municipalities to additional opportunities and funds that have been invested in our watershed's river friendly enhancements.

This park not only provides watershed protection to the Delaware River, but it also provides coverage for neo-tropical song birds and other migratory song birds that use the Delaware River as a flyway during migration.
Merrill Creek Reservoir is a 650-acre reservoir surrounded by a 290-acre Environmental Preserve and 2000 additional acres of woods and fields. Its basic purpose is to provide stored water that can be released to the Delaware River to make up for the evaporative water usage at certain electric generating units in times of low flow in the river. In addition to that basic purpose, Merrill Creek Reservoir provides a tranquil setting of water and land that allows people to interact with the natural environment.
Plans for a hiking trail are in progress. The parking area is located at 14 Millbrook Stillwater Road, Hardwick.
Located on a beautiful glacial lake in the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the Appalachian Mountain Club's Mohican Outdoor Center is an ideal retreat from the world's cares. Stroll to nearby wetlands to spot the local wildlife, or hike the Appalachian Trail to magnificent views of the water gap. Or just splash or paddle in Catfish Pond and unwind.
