Family Hiking Day

Saturday, September 30, 2017

Celebrate National Public Lands Day with a family hike - the trail is waiting! Family Hiking Day is an opportunity to introduce your children to America’s premier footpath, the Appalachian Trail, and all of the benefits that come from being active and spending time outdoors. Plus, the AT is right in our back yard, entering New Jersey at the Delaware Water Gap in Warren County, and the Greater Blairstown Area Community (GBAC) Partnership (Knowlton, Blairstown, Hardwick, Hope, & Frelinghuysen Townships) is now an official Appalachian Trail Community - the first in the State of New Jersey.

While in the area, visit the friendly businesses within the GBAC, which offer a plethora of services, support and souvenirs.

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy invites families of all ages and hiking abilities to get outside and experience the adventure of being active on the Appalachian Trail. Use this link http://appalachiantrail.org/familyhike and this one https://www.nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/app... to plan your visit.  Begin your hike at a time and starting point of your choosing. You can walk and hike for however long or short of a distance you wish. All we ask is that you enjoy all that nature has to offer!
