Join us for a weekend of hiking and art in the Hudson River tradition. On Friday night there will be a presentation on the Hudson River School of Art and their romantic view of the landscape. Leaders will lead moderate hikes where participants will be encouraged to photograph or sketch the beautiful views at Mohican. This is a particularly lovely time as the wildflowers are in bloom. Tips will be given on how to create a successful composition. In the evening there will be optional time to create a watercolor painting using sketches and/or photographs as inspiration.
There are also opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and swimming and sketching at scenic Catfish Pond. You are free to engage in the planned activities as much or as little as you please and are always free to paint, sketch, photograph on your own.
A limited number of hiking boots, backpacks and trekking poles are available to use for free in the Mohican Outdoor Center's demo center.
