Qigong (pronounced ‘chee kung’) is a form of gentle exercise geared toward improving internal and external health. It is composed of movements that are repeated a number of times, stretching the body, benefiting the respiratory and circulation systems and increasing energy flow through the internal organs, while building awareness of how the body moves through space.
Qigong is often called moving meditation due to the concentration and focus on breath and movement which calms the racing mind most of us deal with on a daily basis.
Similar in effect to Yoga, Qigong differs in that we move or flow through positions instead of holding each individual pose. The movements are done standing and can be modified for sitting. Anyone can do Qigong, regardless of age or physical condition, making modifications as needed for individual capabilities.
Qigong is a wonderful art, and one that you will feel from your first exposure just how beneficial a practice it truly is.
The Orchard View Lavender Farm and Chiforliving - Mobility, Fitness and Healthy Aging invite you to join them for a complimentary one hour Qigong Introductory Workshop on Friday, June 1, starting at 6pm. Space is limited. Please reserve your spot by contacting Stan at chiman@chiforliving.com.
