Set in France circa 1860, La Boutique Fantasque tells the story of a world famous toymaker who has created exquisite dancing dolls in her toyshop. As she shows off her creations to potential patrons, the dolls perform a series of dances, all lovely, with the finest being a pair of can-can dolls. The can-can dolls are so enchanting and spirited that an American family purchases the male doll while a Russian family purchases the female doll. After each doll is paid for, they are placed in a box, and collection is arranged for the following day. Little does the toymaker or families know the other dolls will take matters into their own hands in an attempt to keep the can-can doll couple together.
