LocalShare, a program of the Foodshed Alliance, connects local farms’ surplus fruits & veggies to feed the hungry families. With volunteer help, the Foodshed works together to glean produce from local farms, distribute the food for free to local food pantries, and collaborate with other hunger organizations to host free produce markets in Warren County and beyond.
Gleaning is harvesting leftover crops from farmers' fields after they have been commercially harvested, on fields where it is not economically profitable to harvest, or that farmers have chosen to donate. Anyone can volunteer with LocalShare by gleaning, helping at the Free Produce Markets, delivering farm surplus to your choice of local food pantries, and spreading the word to anyone and everyone!
