Rutherfurd Hall is offering an opening reception and first viewing of an exhibition of portraits by Elizabeth Shoumatoff, featuring her 1943 portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt painted at the White House in Washington, DC. The evening includes light refreshments and curator remarks by Joan Leckie Salvas.
This exhibit will be open to the public September 19 and 20 for $10/ person.
Elizabeth Shoumatoff painted leaders and luminaries across the twentieth century, including the center of this exhibition being the 1943 portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, painted at the White House in Washington, DC. The exhibition also features portraits of members of the Rutherfurd family, whose Allamuchy estate is now Rutherfurd Hall. Together these works illuminate a personal connection between an artist, a president, and a New Jersey home dedicated to culture and education.
Tickets are $35 and limited to the first 100 people.
