The Rise and Fall of Spiritualism in the Victorian Era at Southwest Library

Thursday, October 16, 2025 -
6:00pm to 7:00pm

Spiritualism is based on the belief that the spirits of the dead exist, and have the ability and willingness to communicate with the living. Starting with the Fox Sisters in upstate New York, through the appearance of charlatans who discredited the movement, while Harry Houdini and other magicians helped to expose false mediums who were deceiving the public for profit.

This event's presenter will demonstrate some of the magic techniques used by these frauds.  Please register everyone in your group who will be attending.

This program is being offered in recognition of Warren County's Bicentennial celebration.
