Rutgers Environmental Steward Program Information Session at CDH library

Are you passionate about environmental issues? Do you want to learn more and make a difference in your community? Join this online session and learn about the Rutgers Environmental Stewards Program, designed to teach and train volunteers in the important environmental issues affecting New Jersey and work to help solve local environmental problems. 

Registration is open for participating counties in NJ, including Warren County for the class of 2026. No previous experience needed.

Weekly classes taught by leading researchers from Rutgers, government, and the nonprofit sector. There are approximately 13 online and 4 in-person sessions and fieldtrips to environmentally significant sites are included. Topics include climate change, solid waste, recycling, soil health, alternative energy, water quality, habitat conservation, pollinator protection, and environmental policy.

Stewards are encouraged to work on a 60-hour volunteer project in their own community and recieve a certificate and recognition.
