
Shippen Manor's season opens with annual museum tours celebrating Warren County's Bicentennial. Docents will be available to greet visitors and share the history of the Manor, its people, and the local industrial history of Oxford. Tours are offered on the main floor of the building. The last tour begins at 3:30pm.
September 7 - Celebrating the 19th and early 20th c. laborers in Oxford with displays throughout the main floor. The little village of Oxford was once a teeming industrial community with mining, iron works, railroad, mills and more! Last tours begin at 3:30pm.
September 14 - Celebrating America's Revolutionary War history with the 2nd NJ Helms Co. The museum will be open for tours of the main floor with displays and exhibits that reflect the connection the Shippens had to the Revolution. There will be firing demonstrations from 12- 4pm (weather-permitting) along Shippen's lower driveway. There will be picket marches, kids activities and a chance to meet the soldiers, nurses, and more!
There is no admission to the museum. This is a family-friendly historic site. Limited accessible parking available on site.
Shippen Manor
Shippen Manor is a c.1754 iron master’s residence built by Dr. William Shippen, Sr. The Shippens were socially prominent members of a wealthy Philadelphia family. The museum offers guided tours on the 1st and 2nd Sundays from May to December, except on holidays.
