A Nod To Our Past: Events Through November 15

"Places connect people. Historic places connect generations." - Huy Pham, Executive Director, Asian & Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation

The annual self-guided Explore Warren History Trail  is back this year with 18 sites, so hit the trail and make some connections! Each of these sites exist year-round, of course, but this weekend the buildings will be open, volunteers will be happy to educate you, and it is likely that activities/crafts/vendors will be offered. Half of the sites will be open on Saturday; the rest will be open on Sunday. If you have driven by some of these places and wondered about the backstory, now is your chance to find out!  New to the lineup is the Van Campen Homestead in Hardwick, and Hackettstown Historical Society. Pictured is the Van Nest Hoff-Vannatta Farm in Harmony (open Saturday), which looks even better now, since the barn in the background has been repainted since this photo was taken. Plan to have a meal as part of your tour by visiting the Where to Eat section of the Explore Warren website!

Centenary Stage Company's Fringe Festival kicks off this evening, and, as a CSC sponsor, Explore Warren is happy to bestow a pair of complimentary tickets to Paul E. of Hackettstown to see "Too Fat for China" tomorrow night. Enjoy the show, Paul!

We appreciate our veterans every day, but especially honor and salute them on Veterans Day. Check out the "Community Corner" section for a few events supporting veterans causes. Further, with the holidays fast approaching, you may want to consider honoring local heroes by sponsoring a wreath to be placed on a veteran’s grave this December through National Wreaths Across America.

This issue includes some Friday the 13th activities, theatrical debuts, quite a bit of live music and other celebrations, creative workshops and more! We could go on all day, but will cease yammering and let you get to scrolling and making some plans to Explore Warren County!

Happy History Trail, Happy Veterans Day and Happy Wanderings!
