Special Edition for June 10, 2017 ParkFest

It's a rare occasion that we send a special edition of Warren County Wanderings, but tomorrow's ParkFest @ Bread Lock Park is a rare event!

The ambitious array of activity planned means that ParkFest has something for everyone: a Jazz in the Park lawn concert; "Authors Alley" where you can meet fiction, nonfiction and children's book authors, and buy signed copies of their works if you'd like; an Art Show in the barn; Classic Cars (you can still show up with yours!); local history displays and screenings of three history documentaries, including local filmmaker John General's Extra 1104 - The Story of the Rockport Train Wreck; kids' activities; presentations by community organizations; the Warren County Library's Bookmobile; food vendors and more!

Click here for all the details about ParkFest but here are a few things you should know:

Where is Bread Lock Park? You'll find the fun at 2627 Rt. 57 in Stewartsville, NJ, 08886. It's actually closer to New Village, in Franklin Township, at Mile Marker 4, and located by OK4WD.

Why "Bread Lock"? The location of Lock No. 7 West and now part of Warren County's Morris Canal Greenway, the park name comes from the days when the lock tender's wife baked and sold fresh bread to the passing canal boats, resulting in the nickname.

When is ParkFest? Tomorrow! Saturday, June 10, 2017 - 11:00am to 6:00pm.

Who is behind ParkFest? The event is presented by the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders, their county Morris Canal Committee, and the nonprofit Warren County Parks Foundation. Funding has been made possible, in part, by the Warren County Cultural and Heritage Commission as well as additional sponsors: Tiller Sharks Atlantic Exterior Wall Systems, Wayne, NJ, and OK 4WD; Lock Tenders Swift Print Solutions, Belvidere, NJ, and yours truly, the Explore Warren County Tourism Partnership, publishers of Warren County Wanderings; as well as others (see the website for details). Plus, a plethora of volunteers and community groups are working to make ParkFest a great day for you and your family and friends.

ParkFest is free, open to all, and reasonably accessible to persons with disabilities.  The event is intended to highlight the park, our community, and our neighbors - find out what they love to do, see their talents, spend time in a mostly unknown jewel of a park. Get a taste of what makes Warren County a great place to live and to visit!

The weather looks great so bring your sunblock, plus lawn chairs or a blanket to enjoy live jazz from The Louis Pettinelli Quartet (11am-1pm), The Jack Furlong Quartet (1:30-3:30pm), and The Dennis Melillo Swing Quartet (4-6pm) amd all the other ParkFest offerings.

Stop by the Explore Warren table under the big tent to say hello! We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the first-ever ParkFest! Don't forget to forward this to your friends and meet them at ParkFest @ Bread Lock Park!

Happy Wanderings!
