10:00am to 4:00pm

The Canal Society of New Jersey offers a wide range of programming at Waterloo Village this year including the new Highlands Canal Boat Exhibit featuring the recently discovered remains of what may be the last Morris Canal Boat. Some of the historic buildings will be open, historic trades & crafts will be demonstrated, and there will be canal boat rides.

HISTORIC TRADES & CRAFTS

– Steve Lauf, miller, will be grinding grain and demonstrating the operation of a real water-powered gristmill.
– Sharon Kuechelmann will demonstrate her skills in a 19th century Seamstress Shop using a vintage treadle sewing machine to recreate authentic period garments.
– Rich Brusco, a metallurgist and blacksmith from Brookside, NJ, will be working in the blacksmith’s shop hammering red-hot metal and interpreting the process.

CANAL BOAT RIDES
A narrated boat ride on the historic Morris Canal will be offered continuously from late morning until 3:30 in the afternoon.
