Canal Day at Historic Waterloo Village

Saturday, October 28, 2017 -
10:00am to 4:00pm

Last Canal Day of the year! The Canal Society of New Jersey offers a wide range of programming at Waterloo Village this year including the new Highlands Canal Boat Exhibit featuring the recently discovered remains of what may be the last Morris Canal Boat. Some of the historic buildings will be open, historic trades & crafts will be demonstrated, and there will be narrated canal boat rides running continuously from late morning until 3:30 in the afternoon. (Note that because Waterloo operates like a real 19th century village, our canal boat ride and water-powered gristmill may not be running at times of low water.)

Additional acitvities on October 28:
HISTORIC TRADES & CRAFTS: Earle Post, skilled wood worker (pictured), will be building a full size canal boat rudder in the carpenter shop. Rick Giles, store keeper and village historian, will gives visitors an idea of what shopping was like in the 1860.
