An overview of the amazing diversity of butterflies in NJ and their conservation. From the smallest Brown Elfin to the largest Giant Swallowtail to the emerald green Hessell’s Hairstreak to the orange Monarch, NJ’s butterflies come in all shapes, sizes and colors and can be found in every habitat from the xeric mountain tops to the shrubby pinebarrens, to our coastal beaches and wetlands.
Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center
State trout hatchery visitor center offers exhibits and self-guided tour. Hiking trails on wildlife management area. 4000-acre tract is open to hunting and fishing. Pequest River is trout-stocked; angler parking area at Rt. 46 entrance.
