MWA Point Mountain Hike

Saturday, November 20, 2021 - 9:30am

Join the Musconetcong Watershed Association for a hike at Point Mountain in Lebanon Township! There will be two groups taking paths of varying difficulty, both of which lead to the top of Point Mountain, offering expansive views of the Musconetcong River Valley.

- One group will be hiking a 3-mile loop from the Musconetcong River up to the top of Point Mountain, then down the mountain before finishing up along the river.  On this hike, the trip up is very steep and rocky; if you are not an avid hiker, this will be a strenuous stretch of terrain!
- The second group will hike in the opposite direction, starting along the river and taking the longer route up to the top of Point Mountain and returning on the same path.  This will be a longer hike in terms of distance (~5 miles*), but avoids the very steep section.  Note: this hike will still have a rocky dirt path at times and elevation change to get to the top of the mountain.

*Hikers in the second group may also return sooner when they are passed by the first group, which will be on its way down, thus decreasing the overall distance.  However, that could mean not seeing the view from the top of the mountain.

Be sure to bring some water and appropriate sneakers for hiking on steep, uneven, rocky terrain.
