Friday, September 18, 2020 - 6:00pm

The veterans of The American Legion, Carl D. Archer Post 528 of White Township conduct a Recognition Day ceremony at the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action memorial, located at the Oscar Unangst Memorial Fields. The public is welcome to attend to show appreciation and gratitude for those men and women who have fought and were imprisoned as POWs.

This will be our fourth ceremony held since the dedication of the memorial.

A brief ceremony will be held honoring former POWs:
• Reba Whittle, US Army nurse corps during WWII
• Floyd James Thompson, US Army pilot, Vietnam
• Ruby Bradley, US Army nurse corps during WWII/Korea

As well as recognizing a local POW, the ceremony will include the POW Pledge of Allegiance, POW/MIA flag close up, POW/MIA empty chair and the Missing Man table and Honors ceremony.

Participating in the ceremony will be local, county and state elected officials and members of Post 528. Joe Federico, former WWII POW and Post 528 member, may participate.

Please bring your masks and maintain social distancing.
