Two "Mike Hikes" led by Michael Helbing, Chairman of the Warren County Board of Recreation Commissioners and hiking enthusiast, incorporated into the Warren County Preservation Day celebration held at the Roseberry House in Phillipsburg.
The morning hike is described as a casual stroll of about five miles along streets to the Morris Canal, with a view of some old railroad infrastructure along the way, before returning to Preservation Day.
The 3pm hike will depart from the Roseberry House and head to the Warren Highlands Trail, then up through county and state lands to the vicinity of Ragged Ridge. The hike features views, Merrill Creek, historic sites, and much more. It has some steep sections, some weedy sections as it is not being maintained, but still passable. End point is to be determined by time of event. This hike may take as long as eight hours. Come early and join in on Land Preservation Day!
