Docents will be available to greet visitors and share the history of the Manor, its people, and the local industrial history of Oxford. We are offering tours of the main floor of the building. The last tour begins at 3:30pm.
There is no admission to the museum. This is a family-friendly historic site. Limited accessible parking available on site.

Tours of the main floor begin at 1 p.m. with last (abbreviated) tour beginning at 3:30 p.m.
This season our new series is called, "On the Daily" in which our docent will be presenting a variety of topics in our workers' kitchen (lower driveway). "Laundry Day" is a presentation about how women did the laundry in the 18th c.-- making their own soap, hauling water, and even about their personal hygiene practices.
Doors to the dining room (lower porch) open at 1 p.m. and will close by 4 p.m.
Event is free to the public. Our Friends of Shippen is a volunteer group that accepts donations from our visitors at the end of the tours. All donated monies are used to purchase things for the museum.

SUN., SEPT 10 (11 am – 4 pm): Shippen & The Revolution
Tours of the main floor begin at 11 a.m. and will run until 3:30 pm. Tours will pause temporarily during the regimental firing demonstration from 1-1:30 pm and resume afterwards.
Programming with the 2nd NJ includes:
-Soldier and officer tents
- Regimental firing demonstration (1-130 pm)
- Picket march with the kiddos, ages 4-12 (130-2pm)
- Medical table and discussion about how the troops dealt with injury and illnesses
- Children’s games
- Children’s activity (TBA)
- Food prep and laundry needs for the troops with camp followers
Our back parking lot and driveway will be closed to vehicle traffic during this event.

Limited accessible parking for those with handicap/accessible tags/plates.
Weather statement: In case of inclement weather, most activities will be moved into the lower dining hall of the Manor (lower porch).

Shippen Manor
Shippen Manor is a c.1754 iron master’s residence built by Dr. William Shippen, Sr. The Shippens were socially prominent members of a wealthy Philadelphia family. The museum offers guided tours on the 1st and 2nd Sundays from May to December, except on holidays.
