WBID Panel on “Fake News” Featuring Area Media Experts

Thursday, April 13, 2017 -
11:45am to 1:00pm

Are you tired of sifting through fake news and alternative facts? Do you know how to spot a fake news story when you encounter one?  Washington Business Improvement District is hosting a special Lunch & Learn panel discussion on one of the most pressing issues of today's media landscape: fake news.

"Is it Fake - or Real - News" features Joyce Estey of WRNJ Radio; Karen Hillyer, Communications Professor at Warren County Community College; and Jim Deegan, Editor at The Express-Times, as they give attendees the insight they need to effectively sort through the many traps and pitfalls media consumers can fall prey to when following content that is portrayed as "news."

With the insights from these media experts, those who attend are certain to leave with the tools and skillset needed to become more informed and aware as they converse about the key issues of today.

This Lunch & Learn is one of several events presented by the Washington BID throughout the year. In addition to various annual events, each month the WBID hosts the Lunch & Learn the second Thursday and BID Goodnight Networking the first Tuesday.  For a full list of WBID events, go to www.washingtonbid.org.
