Let us introduce you to the striking and beautiful work of the early New England and New Jersey gravestone carvers, though images, a carving demonstration, and hands-on participation. We cover the evolution of hand-carving, to modern-day laser etching, and also feature the renaissance of some modern-day hand-carvers of our acquaintance. The journey will include a demonstration by presenter and novice handcarver Phil Wooldridge. We also talk about recording gravestone art and lettering through photography and rubbings, and will teach the craft of making a foil impression, from a gravestone cast.
