Veterans Day Ceremonies

Veterans Day occurs on November 11 every year in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I, known as Armistice Day. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day, and the day serves to commemorate veterans of all wars. Five of Warren County's American Legion posts are hosting public ceremonies tomorrow:

- Hackettstown: Post 164 ceremony begins 10am at the Post home with bells sounding at 11am.
- White Township: Post 528 ceremony at 11am in the Brookfield community off County Road 519.
- Belvidere: Post 131 ceremony at Belvidere Cemetery with refreshments and fellowship to follow at the Post.
- Phillipsburg: Post 457 ceremony at 11am in Shappell Park.
- Stewartsville: Post 456 is holding a social gathering with breakfast 9-11am.
