Centenary University and Centenary Stage Company’s all-student NEXTStage Repertory present Deborah Zoe Laufer’s End Days March 23 through March 27 at the Lackland Performing Arts Center.
Directed by Centenary University Associate Professor of Theater Stephen Davis and featuring a cast entirely of Centenary University Theater Department students, End Days tells the story of 16-year-old Rachel Stein, who is having a bad year. Her father hasn’t changed out of his pajamas since 9/11, her mother had begun a close personal relationship with Jesus, her new neighbor, Nelson Steinberg, a 16-year-old Elvis Impersonator, has fallen head-over-heels for her, and the apocalypse is coming Wednesday. Rachel’s only hope is that famous theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking will save them all.
End Days has been hailed by Curtain Up as “wild and wonderful… End Days is enormously funny, warm, and uplifting” while The Miami Herald said that End Days, “a rapturously funny play about a family trying to survive in a world hurtling toward Armageddon, proves that the right playwright can inspire healing laughter in even the most sobering subjects”.
Centenary Stage Company’s NEXTStage Repertory is a division of Centenary University and is performed entirely by Centenary University students. NEXTStage Repertory highlights the partnership between Centenary University and the professional Centenary Stage Company.
