Moliere’s classic comic romp of greed, hypocrisy and scandal is just as relevant today as it was in 1664 when it was first performed, (and banned). Orgon, a wealthy French merchant, has fallen under the spell of Tartuffe, who preaches piety and austerity while stealing secrets and seducing the ladies of the house. Only by hiding in closets, listening at doors and climbing under tables (after all, it is a farce) can they, and their maid Dorine, hope to expose Tartuffe and his true motives.
